BIS Certification for Kitchen Electrical Appliances

Electrical appliances for kitchen are now under mandatory BIS certification as per the guidelines of Bureau of Indian Standards.

QCO for Electrical Appliances for Kitchen

MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade) through Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has issued a Quality Control Order (QCO) to make BIS certification mandatory for electrical appliances for kitchen. This QCO was published on 5th March 2024 on the website of the official gazette.

1.  This order may be called the Electrical Appliances for Kitchen (Quality Control) Order, 2023.
2. It shall come into force on the expiry of 6 months from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette.

• For large or foreign manufacturers or importers, it shall come into force on the expiry of 6 months from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette.
• For small manufacturers, it shall come into force on expiry of 9 months from this notification’s publication date.
• For micro enterprises, it shall come into force on expiry of 12 months from the date of publication of this notification.
