Procedure for Obtaining ISI Certification

There are two kinds of processes, one is a normal process which takes 60 – 65 days and the other process takes 35-40 days which is known as a simplified process.

In the normal process, the manufacturer must prepare the BIS certification-related documents for lab verification which are defined by the Indian Standards.

Later, BIS officials will conduct an inspection process of the products and the factory where the products are designed. After the verification of products by the officials the samples are tested by BIS-approved labs. If all the steps and products fulfil the sets of standards, then the authority issues the BIS certificate.

On the other hand, in a simplified process, the applicant submits the report of already verified and tested products by the BIS. Then, submit the BIS online registration application, documents, and fees or charges for certification. After this, BIS officials inspect verification of the factory and when the inspection is completed products are sent to BIS-approved labs for the testing stage. Later on, if products are approved then a certificate is issued within 35 to 40 days of form submission.

So, basically, in a simple way, you can understand this certification procedure steps as –

Firstly, Product Code selection is done then online form filling of the ISI Mark Registration application with a few documents’ submission. Later, a Factory audit is done by the BIS officials. After this BIS authorized lab verifies and tests the products and then grants the ISI Certification.

This process gets easier if the applicant takes the help of any consultant.
