It is very important to ensure the quality and safety of laboratory glassware items as these products play a crucial role in scientific research and experiments. Considering the importance and use of these products, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), which is the standard body of the Indian government, plays a vital role in ensuring the quality, safety, and reliability of the products by setting up the standards for each product and making sure that the products are quality assured. BIS made some products under mandatory certification and some products under volunteer certification.
In this blog, we will talk about BIS Registration for Laboratory Glassware. Some items in laboratory glassware have been made mandatory for BIS Registration by the Bureau of Indian Standards.
QCO for Laboratory Glassware
Quality Control Orders (QCO) are regulations set by the government to maintain the quality and safety standards of specific products. In the case of laboratory glassware, QCO mandates adherence to specific standards that guarantees the quality and reliability of these products.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, DPIIT) has notified a QCO by Bureau of Indian Standards on 1st January 2024 to make BIS Registration mandatory for laboratory glassware.
Implementation of QCO for Laboratory Glassware
As per the QCO, this order may be called the Laboratory Glassware (Quality Control) Order, 2023.
It shall come into force on the expiry of 6 months from the date of publication of this notification.
The implementation date of this QCO is not the same for all types of industries based on their scale. Manufacturers can check their company scale in Udyam registration.
