QCO for Electrical Appliances for Kitchen
MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade) through Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has issued a Quality Control Order (QCO) to make BIS certification mandatory for electrical appliances for kitchen. This QCO was published on 5th March 2024 on the website of the official gazette.
- Â This order may be called the Electrical Appliances for Kitchen (Quality Control) Order, 2023.
- It shall come into force on the expiry of 6 months from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette.
- For large or foreign manufacturers or importers, it shall come into force on the expiry of 6 months from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette.
- For small manufacturers, it shall come into force on expiry of 9 months from this notification’s publication date.
- For micro enterprises, it shall come into force on expiry of 12 months from the date of publication of this notification.
