Fineness

Setting Time

Initial setting Time: At least 30 minutes – This is to allow ample time to the workers to set and complete the concrete before it is allowed to dry.

Final Setting Time: A maximum of 600 minutes (10 hours) – the cement should harden at a reasonable period.

Compressive Strength

In IS 1489 (Part 1) minimum compressive strength values at various ages are given:

At 3 days: minimum 16 MPa

At 7 days: minimum 22 MPa

At 28 days: minimum 33 MPa

Soundness
