The Ministry of commerce and industry (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade), after consulting The Bureau of Indian Standards (Govt. body of India), has mandates the BIS certification for Domestic Pressure Cookers. BIS certification is now a mandatory compliance requirement for domestic pressure cookers sold in India. It ensures the safety, quality and reliability of the product while adhering to the standards set by the Bureau of Indian Standards.
By getting BIS certification, manufacturers of domestic pressure cookers can show ISI mark with IS number on their products which assures consumers that the pressure cooker has undergone rigorous testing and conforms to the prescribed standards. Manufacturers cannot sell or distribute pressure cookers in India without obtaining the BIS license as it is now under mandatory BIS certification.
Quality Control Order for Domestic Pressure Cooker
Ministry of commerce and industry (Department For Promotion Of Industry And Internal Trade) has issued Quality Control Orders (QCO) on the date 21st January, 2020 after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards to regulate the quality of Domestic Pressure Cooker for their production, import, and sale.
These orders mandate that specific products comply with Indian Standards and obtain The Bureau of Indian Standards certification.
The QCO aims to ensure public safety by eliminating substandard or unsafe pressure cookers from the market.
(1)This Order may be called the Domestic Pressure Cooker (Quality Control) Order, 2020.
(2) This Order shall come into force with effect from 1st August, 2020.
Amendment orders :
(1) This Order may be called the Domestic Pressure Cooker (Quality Control) (Amendment) Order, 2020.
(2) It shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
- In the Domestic Pressure Cooker (Quality Control) Order, 2020, in Paragraph 1, in sub-Paragraph (2), for the words and figures-1st August,2020 the words and figures-1st february,2021 shall be substituted.

Process to Obtain BIS Certification for Domestic Pressure Cooker
Application Submission:
