Quality Control Order for Helmets for Police Force, Civil Defence, and Personal Protection

On 23rd October, 2023, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, DPIIT), notified a Quality Control Order (QCO) for helmets intended for police force, civil defense, and personal protection. This QCO mandates that helmets must comply with the Indian Standards specified by the Bureau of Indian Standards and necessitates BIS certification to ensure safety, quality, and durability.

(1) This Order may be called the Helmet for Police Force, Civil Defence and Personal Protection (Quality Control) Order, 2023.

(2) It shall come into force on the expiry of 6 months from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette.

Implementation date of Quality Control Order

1. For large or foreign manufacturers: It shall come into force on the expiry of 6 months from the date of publication of this notification.
2. For small manufacturers: It shall come into force on the expiry of 9 months from the date of publication of this notification.

For micro enterprises: It shall come into force on the expiry of 12 months from the date of publication of this notification
