Pyridine is a basic heterocyclic organic compound widely used in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, dyes, and rubber products. Due to its industrial significance and potential hazards, the quality and safety of pyridine must be strictly regulated. The BIS has mandated certification for pyridine to ensure that only products meeting the required safety and quality standards are available in the Indian market.
Ministry OF Chemicals and Fertilizers (Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals), after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards (Government of India), has made BIS certification mandatory for Pyridine as per the specified Indian Standard. BIS Certification ensures national standards for both consumers and manufacturers. This certification also establishes consumer trust, as it guarantees the product meets stringent quality standards.
Quality Control Order for Pyridine
Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers (Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals)has issued Quality Control Orders (QCO) on the date ,16th June, 2020 after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards to regulate the quality of Pyridine for their production, import, and sale.
According to the QCO:
- Pyridine must comply with IS 8058:2018.
