BIS Certification for Ropes and Cordages

The quality and strength of Ropes and Cordages are critical, as they often bear heavy loads and ensure safety in challenging conditions. BIS certification is mandatory for ropes and cordages as per the guidelines of Bureau of Indian Standards. BIS certification for ropes and cordages allows manufacturers to use ISI mark on their products which is the mark of quality and reliability, ensuring that these products meet the required standards for durability, tensile strength, and environmental resistance.

Quality Control Order for Ropes and Cordages

To regulate and maintain the quality of ropes and cordages, the Ministry of Textiles has implemented a Quality Control Order (QCO) on the 3rd October, 2024 after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards.

Conclusion

As BIS certification is now mandatory for Ropes and Cordages, manufacturers of these products have to get BIS certification before the implementation date of the Quality Control Order. After getting BIS certification, manufacturers of the ropes and cordages can adhere to the ISI mark on their products. Otherwise, without BIS certification manufacturers or importers are not allowed to manufacture or sell their products in the Indian market.
